Born in 1910 in Kupang on Timor Island, Mrs. Frederika Tobias hailed from the Roté principality. She had a previous marriage before uniting with Leatemia, her eventual husband.
In 1951, post-World War II, the LEATEMIA family relocated to the Netherlands, leaving behind the trials of Japanese rule for an uncertain future in a foreign land.
